  • Kendrick Lamar is widely recognized as a groundbreaking rapper and a powerful cultural storyteller whose work navigates complex issues of race, gender, and identity. 

  • His music offers narratives challenging mainstream representations of Black life and masculinity. 

  • This paper examines identity rhetoric and feminist rhetorical theories in Kendrick Lamar's works. 

  • I explore how Lamar's music engages with themes of race, gender, and power. 

  • In this essay, I draw on scholars like Cheris Kramarae, Mary Daly, and Paula Gunn Allen to analyze his storytelling further, particularly regarding Black identity and masculinity. The paper also dives into feminist rhetorical theories and non-traditional rhetoric. 

  • The paper closely aligns with critical thinking competencies. I gather and analyze information from multiple textbooks and websites to fully understand and interpret messages. 

  • I also effectively recognize the diverse perspectives and lived experiences public figure, Kendrick Lamar and the relationship between feminist rhetoric theorists.

Showcases

Critical Thinking

  • The two trips I want to showcase were to Paris and Ireland.

  • I had the idea to create a travel journal through social media and decided to try.

  • I have always had a passion for photography and with these vacations, I learned to turn it into videography.

  • I created travel videos by filming snippets throughout the trip and compiling them into one video.

  • I used a mobile movie editing app to create travel videos.

  • Although I still enjoy watching the Ireland videos, I got some feedback to improve the next video.

  • The feedback I got was that it was fast paced and needed to be slowed down a bit which is what I tried to improve on the Paris video. 

  • I took a lot of different videos throughout the trip to ensure my project had the end result I wanted.

  • I really enjoyed self-learning how to get exactly what I wanted the video to capture. I would like to learn more about videography because my family and friends love to watch the video and see all the activities I did on vacation.

  • Now whenever I go on vacation I not only look forward to the trip and photography opportunities, but also creating a video with all the memories pictures can't capture. I love looking back on these videos!

Video Production

Applied Communication Project

  • This project was formed within a group of 5 people including myself to understand and address the importance of AI and cybersecurity.

  • The group I was in clearly communicated and kept each other updated throughout the time we worked together.

  • The target audience was college students and those in the younger generation. 

  • Through this project, we developed an intervention strategy and used our knowledge and outside sources to inform students of how AI can help and hurt cybersecurity and data breaches.

  • We decided to inform others by setting up a social media account. 

  • Since AI is still new, there's still a lot of things that people don't know and hopefully with this page, we were able to help people be more technologically secure and aware of the capabilities of AI when it comes to breaching our data.
